13 Jan Hello world! Start reading!
Alright, so I wanted to do something different. The name of my blog is The Debt Free Baby, who is my 5 month old daughter Claire. She was born into this world debt free, and her parents happen to be what I call consumer debt free (no debt except for a house). My goal is that her and all of my future children live their lives never experiencing debt. This blog will be dedicated to her and all parents who want a better life for their children.
I will discuss general finance topics to specific tips on saving money, paying off debt, budgeting, etc. What makes my blog different from all the rest? First of all, and I wont go into detail here because you can read it in my about me section, but my wife and I are recently debt free. It took us about 2 1/2 years but we paid off all of our debt, and have paid cash for everything since. I will share things that helped us accomplish that, some of which you may have heard before, and some that I developed myself. Also with this blog I want to reflect on issues due to debt that I have experienced or stories I have heard that hopefully my children will avoid. I want to plant the seed in people that if you handle money well and do smart things, you can pass that on to your children and everyone is better for it.
For those of you who say money is not important, its not most important, but its necessary to live and if you don’t know how to handle it, it can be disasterous. I want to try and avoid long blogs, however sometimes it may be unavoidable. My goal is to promote intelligent discussion on these topics as well as feedback on what you would like my input on. If your wondering why you would want my input to begin with, again see my about me for why I know what im talking about. Here are some examples of topics I would like to discuss: buying a house, manufactured homes, lottery, warranties, credit scores, new cars, budgeting, mortgages, stocks, eBay, student loans, wills, trusts, emergency fund, millionaires, taxes. If any of those things pertain to you, bookmark me, rss me, whatever you prefer and come back and check it out.
